Dr. Santasree Mallik Bhuyan

Founder of Group AJAKA

It is a pleasure to hear the story behind the brand. Bankim Chandra’s philosophy—that a creation is an extension of the creator’s soul—perfectly frames the work of Dr Santasree Mallik Bhuyan.  Dr Bhuyan, the Founder of Group Ajaka, who is by profession a Professor and HOD, Bengali Literature of a Govt college and the founder President of Aadyaa Foundation, where she adopted 2 villages followed by organic farming, solar light installation, weaving and other vocational training to help the villagers to earn their livelihood, and she also received the national honour for adopting two tribal villages. She is also the former Chairperson of FICCI FLO Northeast and the Chairperson of the Handloom and Textile Committee of FICCI Assam. She is also the Co- Founder Director of a neurodiverse learning and Research Centre.

Dr Bhuyan’s background suggests that Ajaka is not merely a commercial venture but a scholarly and humanitarian mission. Her profile highlights a rare intersection of disciplines.

By knowing Dr Bhuyan, we understand that an Ajaka garment isn’t just a piece of clothing; it is a part of a village’s livelihood, a reflection of Assamese identity, and the result of a visionary’s academic and social dedication. It is rare to see a brand whose supply chain is as beautiful as its finished silk.

Empowering Assam’s weaving heritage, AJAKA embarks on a visionary quest. They champion sustainable fashion, elevating the weaving industry to unprecedented heights. Their goal is to revolutionise Assam’s looms, providing artisans with an unparalleled platform. Through innovation and dedication, they redefine tradition, setting a new standard in ethical craftsmanship. AJAKA envisions not just fabrics, but a transformative journey—where Sustainability intertwines with elegance.
